On July 4th, 2014, the Rotary Club of San Jose treated the community to a world-class fireworks display in Silicon Valley’s city center. We are thrilled to share that over 80,000 people enjoyed a free fireworks show. They rode VTA, they ate at downtown restaurants, and they joined families and friends to celebrate our nation’s independence.
With help from our sponsors, the Rotary Club of San Jose brought the downtown fireworks back after a 6-year hiatus.
The San Jose Mercury News editorial board published this wonderful article, which honors Rotary’s local and international commitment to service above self.
People could see the fireworks for miles – from Discovery Meadow to downtown rooftops to surrounding neighborhoods – and beyond!
The Rotary Club of San Jose is proud to have the support of our community sponsors, including and especially the County of Santa Clara and City of San Jose.
We turned 100 this year, and we want to cap our centennial year off by providing a free gift to our community. In addition, we strongly believe that safety is fun!
The County wants to see our community safe on holidays, and believes that a free, world-class fireworks display prevents the need for illegal and highly unsafe fireworks.
To promote public safety, the County matched funds provided by the City to support this effort. Everybody's on board!
